One of the missions of GABIDDC is to raise funds for worthwhile local causes and to support it’s core mission which is as Andre Carley notes in his fundraising letter:
“is to advance opportunities for businesses and citizens of the upper Georgia avenue corridor. In the past twelve months, GABIDDC has sponsored a number of programs and initiatives including education programs with the Black Student Fund and the University of the District of Columbia; a community day showcasing businesses and not for profit organizations; a DC SYEP project funded by the DC Humanities creating an archival photographic record of Walter Reed and the Upper Georgia corridor as well as forums on the development project at Walter Reed.”
And as he notes:
All of this work has been accomplished by a group of dedicated volunteers and a small budget. GABIDDC seeks your support to build its capacity to fulfill its mission and respond to calls from the community. In the upcoming days GABIDDC will launch its website and create a social media campaign. We will continue to rely on volunteers but resources are needed to support the work of dedicated volunteers.
